The Sagar School’s Social Outreach Programme is an initiative with a mission to empower women and the underprivileged. Towards this aim, we are engaged in working with local communities.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

The School has adopted Malliyer village and our students regularly visit to organise

  • Literacy camps
  • Vocational training for ladies and children
  • Hygiene and wellbeing camps
  • Free medical camps
  • Plantation drives

We donate regularly - computers, books, clothes, linen etc. to local schools and communities.

The School encourages and promotes flexibility, adaptability and sensitisation to the less privileged and responsibility to contributing towards the society.

IAYP - International Award for Young People - (Formerly Duke of Edinburgh Awards) is one such programme. The Sagar School is the first school in Rajasthan to be accredited as a YES centre (Youth Engaging Society) and in partnership with the National Award Authority, provides training in order to further the Programme. Under this programme, 14 years old and above are enrolled for Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. Students actively participate in four aspects of the programme i.e. Service, Skill, Adventure Journey and Physical recreation.

The Sagar School has adopted the Malliyer village as a social outreach programme whereby students visit and tutor the village children and illiterate women and adults.

Health camps, vocational educational programs and handicraft workshops have helped the village women to not only learn but also to be self reliant and self employed.

EMPOWERING WOMEN

Our students guided by our teachers, train local under-privileged and illiterate women in making jewellery, handicrafts, potlis, baskets from wild grass, coasters, woollen products etc. Their training is free and these women take home a stipend every month. These products are sold and the proceeds from the sales are utilised for the charitable activities of the Social Outreach Programme.

Taj Group of Hotels, Corporate offices of Aircel, Ireo, Huawei, Nestle, Remfry & Sagar, Pepsico, Schoolex Edubition, Affairs Exhibition, Intec Infocom, are some who have supported us in this endeavour by buying these products.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Right from the inception of our School project and through the four phases of construction, masons and labour have been employed from the neighbouring villages to build this institution. All the stone, landscape and boundary wall work has been executed by locals, thus giving them an opportunity to earn their livelihood.

Since the school opened its doors, outsourced services such as security and horticulture have employed women and men from the neighbourhood villages thereby giving employment opportunities here.

TRANSFORMING LIVES

We are partnering with The Udayan Care Trust Board, a Public Charitable Trust (http://www.udayancare.org). The aim was bringing about transformation in orphaned and at-risk children through quality education at our School. We organise scholarships and bursaries from well-wishers and friends to support the education and stay of orphan and underprivileged children, predominantly girls at our school.

You too can become involved and support the education of a child. Your gift can help educate an orphan.

TESTIMONIALS

“Many of our children have gone through The Sagar School’s august portals,” says Dr. Kiran Modi, the Founder Managing Trustee, Udayan Care,”and made a life for themselves, only because of their huge and consistent support, as also, loving teachers’ hard work. Today, they are a standing example of what a good education can do to a child.” “I have had a wonderful time at school. The Sagar School has brought me closer not only to excellent education but has also given me a chance to excel at various co-curricular activities.

A bursary student

I came here in the 8th grade and haven’t looked back since. My skills in acting and art have improved considerably and the teachers have been instrumental in honing my skills. I have successfully dabbled with photography and have developed a keen interest in the field of design. Needless to say, I have made the best of friends and have met the kindest of people that one could imagine. I am ever so grateful to Udayan Care and The Sagar School for changing my life and putting me a step ahead to a brighter future.”

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” - Winston Churchill
